I’ve decided to call this the first piece in a series rather than the first movement of a long piece, as I had originally imagined. This is because it does stand alone, as the next pieces/sections will too, and even when they’re all done (years from now), they’re much more likely to be performed individually than all together. Still though, they’ll be designed to work together as one concert-length set.

The other reason is I really wanted to write a double bar and finish something.
