I have started with gren and grey terrain primer and then zenithaled it. From this on forward I haven't used any drybrushing, just contrast colours.
I used the same colours the Nurglings and Paz'uz will use, to keep it consistent.
If you look at the centre of the pool, that's where the brightest colour is, so the viewer's eye will be drawn to it immediately. You can guide the spectator's view by creating bright, interesting areas and framing them with darker, more toned down colours.
