War is the way of deception.

19
Therefore, when you are capable, appear incapable. When preparing for war, appear to be doing nothing.

When you are near, make it seem that you are far away; when you are far away, make it seem that you are near.

20
If your enemy has the advantage, entice him; if he is in chaos, seize the opportunity.

21
If he is secure, prepare yourself against him; if he is strong, avoid him.

22
Provoke him if he is easily angered; feed his pride if he is humble.

23
Wear him down when he is at rest; divide him when he is united.

24
Attack the enemy where he is unprepared, and appear where he does not expect you.

25
All of this leads the strategist to victory and must not be revealed beforehand.
