you probably already know this, but I recall Belle de Jour had a trick where she listed her alias alongside her real name on a webpage, and then set her analytics to alert her immediately if that page was ever hit by a non-spider session, ie someone had figured out her real name. Probably wouldn’t work any more with the way Google slurps all data up onto the results page instead of making you click through. I thought it was genius at the time though.
