Looking at some company guidelines we have for social media use, and honestly I think they're quite good/useful so thought I should share. Four bullets:

- ASSUME THAT ANYTHING POSTED TO THE INTERNET WILL BE THERE FOREVER. It probably won’t – but it won’t always be you who decides if it does. So be thoughtful about how you want to represent yourself.

- ASSUME THAT ANYTHING POSTED TO THE INTERNET WILL BE WIDELY SEEN. The internet is a place where you can’t control the volume of your voice. If something would reflect badly on you if taken out of context or broadcast more loudly than you intend, don’t post it.

- DON’T ALLOW OTHER PEOPLE TO DICTATE YOUR TONE. Even if (especially if) you are interacting with someone who is being unkind or abusive, don’t be unkind or abusive in response. Instead, take pleasure in maintaining your calm.

- BE HUMAN. And if you make a mistake, concede it, apologise and correct yourself.
