On the international/US keyboard on my Mac I just long-press e.g. u and then 4 to type an Umlaut. Super easy. On Win machines you can use Powertoys to set up similar shortcuts.
German layout pretty much sucks for most creative software. Even for coding I find US marginally easier to type special characters
but since this boy is a gaming laptop, I'll prolly use it docked with US keyboard most of the time
