3. I's easy to remember (and so hard to forget) #JohnColtrane100

As promised yesterday, I continue with a ballad composed by Richard Rogers with lyrics by Lorenz Hart that was written for the movie *Mississippi*. This piece, feature in the album *Ballads*, was recorded in December 1961 with McCoy Tyner on piano, Reggie Workman on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums. The next year, Reggie Workman would be replaced by Jimmy Garrison for the rest of the recording that took place one year later in November/December 1962.

This is the kind of album that those high skilled musicians can do. Apparently, they had never played those tunes before, they discussed a little bit on the way they would play them, what chord substitutions they would choose, rehearsed no more than half of an hour, and make an un-cut version which is fit for the album.

Please appreciate the final seconds of the piece, when Jones summons the thunder and the piece comes to its end.
