Someday you might be presented with the opportunity to be a father (or mother) figure to someone whose own father was anything but
You have no obligation to do this. And in some instances it will cost you — particularly if the biological dad in question is spiteful and vindictive, as mine was
But if you choose to do this, even if it's just for a summer or a few afternoons a year, you'll change a kid's life. Maybe not immediately, but someday and forever
