this is how I remember the calcified "communist" party in Czechoslovakia in 80's operated:
- toxic positivity
- surveillance
- ignoring obvious problems
- ignoring of all criticism (justified or otherwise)
- criminalizing and excessive punishment of dissent
- treating the population as the enemy or at least with suspicion
- culture wars
- corruption
- stagnation
Looking at what the western governments are doing I'm getting a strong sense of deja'vu.
