End of May, we flew to London and then took a 12-night cruise from Dover. This was not a birding trip; I did not have my large lens for birds, but there was a bird —a European Herring Gull —and I did have a camera with my traveling 18-200mm lens. I watched as it skimmed the water, rose higher, soared across the sky, circled back around, and flew close enough that a 200mm lens was good enough.
