Ultimately, I think the issues run far deeper than mathematics. The gathering concentration of power in the hands of the few completely unethical people who run these companies is deeply concerning for humanity.
First they came for the arts. Now they've come for mathematics. Next, I suspect, they will come for science, with dire consequences. I have grave concerns for the labour market in all endeavours of human thought.
What is needed is oversight, guardrails and effective laws to govern the behaviour of our unethical oligarchical tech overlords, but that's not coming any time soon, particularly in the US.
