So, an idea for a horror game.

You and your buddies are sent to a remote research facility for reasons. Radio silence, concerning messages sent from panicked staff, doesn't matter.

You arrive, pretty much everyone is dead, and any survivors have just gone into a frenzy shooting anything that moves. Place looks like a war zone.

You explore for a bit, doing normal routine things to get base operational again.
But every time you reenter a previous room, things might be slightly different.

That plant wasn't there before!
I could have sworn that desk had a chair by it.
Suddenly, you are attacked by a vending machine, as it tries to crush you against a wall.
