Hollywood (western media in general) is to blame in part. Having a child (even the expectation of one) is portrayed as a panic scenario! A nightmare! The idiocy related to "population" is mostly based on a book "Population Bomb", the claims of which have been thoroughly debunked by the scientific community. But I guess the western media did not get the memo!
