Fediverse servers (Mastodon etc.) don’t have global views of the network:
• Pro: Much easier to set up independent servers because data is retrieved as needed.
• Con: Discovery (search etc.) is limited, especially on small servers (which don’t see much of the network).
Solution: Fediverse search engines. https://www.fediscovery.org
