"content": "Quite a surprise for me: the Orbital Sciences' (now Northrop Grumman's) L-1011 actually flew this month. It is a three engine jet that is more than fifty years old, and the only one that has flown in roughly a decade. It is uniquely modified to carry the ultra-expensive all-solid smallsat launcher Pegasus, which mounts under the fuselage with its vertical stabilizer slotting inside the jet.\n\nNG still has an active launch license for the rocket, for launches from Kwajalein. Which is also weird.\nhttps://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/114/410/581/804/675/894/original/d8e380e9e6faff47.jpg\nhttps://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/114/410/582/283/549/281/original/51c8046572e85532.png\n",
