when I use a semicolon
I seldom use a semicolon. It has nothing to do with a perfectly fine punctuation mark, and a lot to do with my grammar skills. I have a long, painful history of bungling semicolons, especially in fiction.
I understand proper usage (mostly), but lack confidence using them, and end up spending too much time thinking about it.
