I spent ages trying to hunt down BBQ gloves in "thin woman's hands" size, with no luck.
Eventually I happened across sturdy full leather gardening gloves in my size, and thought to myself they should work.
And they do. Even without additional insulation the thick glove leather -no doubt designed to withstand things like rose thorns- protects my hands surprisingly well from heat.
