Listen, if a human tries to murder you, at the very absolute minimum you don't marry them.
There's a lot of stories where someone starts off absurdly toxic and you're supposed to earn their friendship, and that's supposed to be... cathartic? I guess it's an extension of that.
But pro tip from an old guy: if someone's toxic, don't earn their friendship. Avoid them.
