Yes but “Everyone working together” was never required for Bitcoin.

It is a system where everyone involved can be adversarial to each other at every level from individual to nation state.

The deception was more in denying this to be the case all along. Not that some of our “trusted heroes” and famous influencers suddenly “betrayed” the plebs.

In fact, the real threat is when the users start being conformist and followers of those “heroes and leaders” and the coordinated action required to actually compromise the system becomes more possible.

That being the case-
Since this -datacarriersize / knots-core saga has profoundly shattered and immunized the users against much of the trust/conformity disease that has accumulated over the past couple cycles, this whole event can be seen as very healthy for the Bitcoin system as a whole.
