An evening of beauty that we are trying to see, despite all this destruction. 🌙
From northern Gaza, where the war has left nothing as it once was…
I write to you feeling that the war has not only consumed this place, but has consumed me as well. It has drained my energy, exhausted my emotions, and taken more from my health and my years than I ever thought a human being could endure.
Sometimes I feel that there isn’t much room left in life for what is still to come…
As though the years spent beneath the sound of bombardment and fear have weighed more heavily than all the years of my life combined.
And yet…
I still lift my eyes to the sky, searching for a small moon to remind me that beauty, no matter how deeply surrounded by ruins, does not die.
And this is tonight’s moon from northern Gaza… 🌕
A moon rising above us from among the rubble, as if whispering: there is still light, even if it is far away.
