Obviously, everything is a matter of balance; you don't want to be financially secure, no longer having to work for money, and still act like a cheapskate counting every dollar; but complacency tends to hit faster than you think, and it's very easy to imagine a scenario where you slowly fall in love with material comfort and wake up realizing that you are already old, but back to square one, when you should have compounded your wealth, for the sake of your family, for the sake of your own peace of mind.
