INT. MAGES' COLLEGE DUNGEON - NIGHTBrand crept through the dim halls. Altin would be at the bottom in the Deepest Dungeon, like always. Brand didn't even watch his feet on the worn stone stairs. He'd tried a few times before this round, but the price of failure was just getting thrown out and trying again with everything reset. He'd come with items he could throw this time. They didn't need to be good ones. He'd saved the good traps for the town. Magical ones. Once he and Altin were out of here they'd go on the run, let the mages raid again, and maybe teach them a lesson making them leave empty-handed.
It wasn't really "like clockwork." But it was a lot like "physics." The village was a convenient target full of physical fighters and woodworkers and they had to *live,* too, so it was always being replenished with things to raid. Altin was one of the "valuables" they kept taking, but he was the one Brand put his foot down for.
