As a hobbyist Android developer, I've started feeling this languish a decade ago, long before slop appeared. New API breaking the old one. New security requirements to stay allowed on Google Play Store. A complete rework of the UI framework, now with wiggly progress bars! I thought it was burnout, and maybe it is, additionally. But mainly it's the pointless rework of things that weren't broken.
