From 1 October, every crypto transfer of $10,000 or more to or from a self custody wallet gets reported to Coaf, Brazil's financial intelligence unit.

Not suspicious transfers. All of them.

Withdraw to your own keys. Reported.

Send it back to an exchange. Reported.

The new line sits in the same article of the anti money laundering rules as cash foreign exchange. Moving sats to your own wallet now gets the same treatment as walking into a bank with a bag of dollars.

It doesn't ban holding your keys. It watches the door.

And from January, a second resolution lets institutions hold some outbound transfers before they go through.
