"content": "For the Romans, the manes were the spirits of those who came before. I believe they're still alive in our gestures: in how we greet, in how we break bread, in what we do without thinking.\n\nWe live rushed by the wishes of short time. We wait for the perfect moment, wear ourselves out trying, and end up like Nietzsche's Hyperboreans, the ones I already wrote about in another poem: far away, in the cold, above everything, but alone.\n\nWhat saves us is the simple stuff. Through gestures they know we love each other, and when we pass the bread we become children again.\n\nFloating isn't the absurd part.
