That's something Ethan struggles with as the story goes on. He has his first birthday out in space and stops as soon as he's about to blow out his candles, because after everything they've been through, Fahrenheit and Celsius are right there. But... they know.
I won't spoil how the scene goes, but even by the end of the book... it would be hard to turn down a chance at going home, even with what he's built with the crew. It's "only" 50 years. He'd still be alive, even if he'd be retirement age. But he'd be leaving behind the friends he made, his only salable skill...
It's not my first isekai story, but the choice to stay or go back is always a deeply personal one, and there are no easy answers.
