I agree with that too.
I think I feel like with so many billions of people, statistically we get more ambitious arseholes too, and everything. And because people are more numerous we're travelling around more and mixing with each other and the ones that are fearful and suffering get more likely to turn tribal and worry about these "different" people.
Also countries with big populations hitting their stride and also starting to consume a lot more than they used to.
