so I saw that squidge got 12,000 new user requests overnight since AO3 has been shut down, and I’ve seen myself that tumblr usage seems to be up
but are any fic authors out there finally using the squarespace discount codes from their favourite podcasts to build a personal website like we used to do 20+ years ago?
also, are there any dreamwidth comms out there running memes? shout it out.
Please don’t use the squarespace code they’re overpriced af

Nekoweb, neocities, netlify, nearlyfreespeech, are just some offers for low cost webhosting
I was wracking my brain to remember neocities, and couldn’t do it for the life of me, THANK YOU
I’ve got a Neocities! I started working on it last year, and it’s super fun tbh. Not only do I have all of my fics on there, but I also can cover it in all kinds of cool decorations I’ve both found and made >:3
For anyone who’s interested in giving it a shot, some fanfic-specific code templates people have made include Archive of Your Own, which is a filtering system made by Coyote, and Ao3 CSS, which is a pre-written stylesheet for Ao3 HTML downloads made by fan.kingdra (who also has other templates mainly for filtering systems as well)
EGGRAMEN also has a collection of CSS templates for sites in general, and W3Schools and MDN have lots of tutorials on HTML and CSS as well
But even if you’re not interested in making your own site, I highly encourage you to browse through Neocities and Nekoweb and click through the webrings people are in because there are a lot of cool sites out there. A lot of them even have resources pages of links to other cool places (like mine! Which is one part a collection of all the graphics I’ve made and one part links to sites I want to keep track of ^-^)
