Most discourse on LLMs that I see seems to slant so far to one side or the other (either LLMs have nearly human capabilities or they're completely useless) that I don't find it very credible. And I haven't personally had much occasions to use them (I haven't been that motivated to use them on a personal basis, and they're difficult to make use of on my professional work due to data restrictions). I probably fall more on the skeptical end of the spectrum currently, but I can easily imagine that LLMs are significantly useful for some purposes (e.g. as a coding aid).
