Existential dread of the morning.
What is the difference between an openclawed Soul.md and Marcus Aurelius's meditations?
I was listening to a podcast with Sam Harris as the guest host and he said there's ideas about the body and the mind both being separate from the self.
The idea being our thoughts are just another part of our physicality and there's some underlying thing that's tying all these external and I eternal experiences together. That thing is the self.
Its an interesting idea because what does that reduce my body and mind to? Is it just a pile of sensors and an internal database of experiences all coordinated through the brain? Is my amygdala my Soul.md for which my self is reminded of how I feel and is my Cerebral cortex my Memories.md, the experiences I wished to remember?
The AI folk who think ChatGPT is alive I think are wrong, but I'm not sure how to express it.
