a bit off topic, but you find the idea of an operad interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operad

It's rather technical (the wiki article doesn't really help either) but it's basically a vast abstraction of the idea of a parametrized family of composable n-ary operations, independent of what is being operated on.

I never studied them but there's a lot of cool patterns and diagrams that arise, not to mention some beautiful applications to math and physics
