In the end, while Trump's tariffs may cause some disruption in the global economy (while also, as I have argued before) promoting an acceleration of structural changes already underway, perhaps (in the short term, at least) what is likely to be a bigger dampener on economic activity (both for business & their customers) is the uncertainty about how US economic policy will develop, or even its direction.
Uncertainty undermines economic activity and Trump is providing plenty of that!
