If by "plosive popping" you mean sound from consonant speech (e.g. the letter "P") hitting the microphone hard, I think I did hear that occasionally.

Early on by moving my system volume into the red I could easily make it plenty loud without distortion. I only mentioned it because that's much higher than I typically have to set it when listening to youtube videos.
