Yeah!... I'm... I have disproportionately hyped myself up over the Dune IP's/Universe because many of my favorite bands and stuff are heavily inspired by the books. (Sandrider is one of my favorite bands at the moment)
And I too have seen the movies and the Bezos Prime series... and they're fascinating but never as fascinating as their prospect.. as "the idea of Dune when deconstructed and delivered".
So it felt like it was time for the books and... I think they are astounding, very political, rich in intrigue and they're "sci-fi done right" in that they are less phantasmagorical as opposed to being mirrors/lenses of human nature and geopolitics. That's why I always loved Tolkien.
But I find it a bit rough around the edges, personally, when it comes to establishing the characters. Maybe my imagination just isn't on the level of Frank Herbert. Maybe I need to marinate the contents further.
Good, but not mind-blowing so far.
