That must have been finished as I was hearing about the women‘s giro on the radio, I think? We were there Wednesday to Friday of this week. We saw a lot of the stuff they had put up for the 80 years of the republic celebrations on the 2nd, that they were putting down again though.
Building on top of old things is what humans have always done. But with thousands of years of that it is fascinating to think about and see. But that‘s also why Pompeii is so incredible: You walk the actual original streets and see the remainders of the actual buildings and some interiors as they have been the day of the erruption. It‘s something else. Almost like real time travel. It was at times an emotional experience for me.
