I don’t know why Indonesian government officials — actually, maybe I do, has to do with worthless pride and saving face — keep making threats and dismissing regional concerns over the forest fires.
This week the government announced an end to gas export to Singapore citing domestic supply security — it’s really over Singapore’s threat of legal action over the continued haze and lack of progress and effort in firefighting — a contract that’s supposed to run to 2028. Singapore said they expect parties to a commercial contract to abide by it, quietly hinting legal action over a breach.
As if that’s not enough, Singapore holds the primary gate to Indonesia’s Internet connections. They shut that down, Indonesia goes back to the ADSL or dial up era. Starlink is available but expensive, not to mention not meant for large scale consumer and enterprise needs, and there are no suitable backup channels for an extended nationwide isolation.
The Indonesian government is weak, stupid, filled with selfish corrupt morons having no real understanding of accountability. Hope they all suffer from constant constipation and diarrhea.
