Basically I installed a plugin (surge-XT) by adding it to my config, but my DAW can't see it. I checked and sure enough, there's no .vst (or .vst3, .lv2, .clap...) in $HOME or anywhere I thought to look.

but adding Musnix to my flake config didn't solve the problem, and adding the suggested chunk of code makes nixos-rebuild fail because the function makeSearchPath isn't found.
... ok maybe I have actually digged a little into the problem already 😅
