Why does GNU make _still_ not have a way to automatically determine the number of parallel jobs based on available CPU cores? I guessed (incorrectly) that `-j` without an argument would do this, but it turns out that is an unlimited number of jobs. That is a good way to take out your whole graphical session (only a VM fortunately) thanks to OOM killer choosing that instead of one dozens of `mmc` processes.
Notably BSD make (on FreeBSD and NetBSD at least) can do this with `-j 1C`
