Destroying money itself is an interesting exercise. I haven't yet worked out how one might do it, though I have my suspicions. I accept Graeber's theory of money, where money is a State instrument created at the same time as taxes in order to encourage self-organization around the State's objectives. "Give me this many tokens with my face on it at the end of the year, or I'll send my goons after you."
I don't think trust enters in, and I think funding crime establishes a new State. 1/
