I'm not so sure.
My generation was forced to pay into Social Security. Then, we were told it was no longer our money but now Social Security is whatever the gubmint decides to pay.
We used to have retirement programs. Then those were taken away and we were encouraged to enter 401(k) where the money isn't ours and we are taxed on all gains but no credit for losses.
I paid the highest interest rate on college loans - and repaid them.
I lost opportunity because I am white male.
