I see Mastodon 4.6.0 was released just a few hours ago, and I'm already getting questions from Mastodon admins. Just a heads-up for Mastodon Bird UI users and admins who have the UI installed: the main branch (stable for 4.5.0) is NOT compatible with Mastodon 4.6.0. The nightly version has been tested with 4.6.0-rc.1, but not yet confirmed for 4.6.0 stable. It should work though, since rc.1, which it was tested with, is only 35 commits behind.
If you are updating your instance now and want Mastodon Bird UI to work, you should use the nightly branch and preferably the official install script we provide for forks. A LOT of the UI has changed, including the new auto color scheme and contrast modes outside of the theme, as well as the major modularization work we did this spring while preparing for 4.6.0.
Custom CSS users should use the CSS files under dist/.
Let me know if you run into any issues with the nightly branch rc-version and I'll fix them soon. Final stable testing is coming at the latest this upcoming weekend.
