yes I guess it is a euphemism when translated, but I'd say that it isn't such a euphemism in Gaelic; it's just the word we use to mean someone has died 🤷🏼‍♀️ FWIW I have only ever used died when talking about family/friends (in English), but I think using a figure of speech when offering condolences to others is OK. Interesting to think about this!
