Original Sin
1/9 My father had epilepsy. He said it began after he dove into a shallow creek and knocked himself out by hitting his head on a submerged rock. Maybe that was the proximate cause after a genetic predisposition. My mother said one of his uncles had epilepsy. Perhaps it was the uncle who died at age 29. If he died from an epileptic seizure, that would have been stigmatizing in the early 1900s. Maybe it is why I was able to find obituaries for his siblings, but not for him.
